Specifications for fuel hoses used aboard small craft have
been standardized by the Marine Technical Committee of
the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) under their
specification J1527. Hoses can be broken down into four
broad groups (A1, A2, B1, & B2) according to two requirements;
fuel permeability and flame resistance.
Fuel Permeability: Class 1 hoses have the greatest resistance
to fuel vapors permeating through the hose itself.
Therefore, in enclosed engine compartments where fuel is constantly in the hose, Class 1 hoses should always be
used. Class 2 hoses exhibit less resistance to permeation,
and so are intended for filler or vent hoses where fuel does
not usually lie in the hose, or where there is no threat of
fumes collecting in an enclosed area.
Flame Resistance: Type A hoses have a flame resistant
cover and will resist burning. Type B hoses have not been
subjected to any flammability tests.
Typically, fuel feed lines will be type A1, combining maximum
resistance to permeation and to fire. Vent and filler
neck hoses will be A2 or B2.
USCG Type A2 Fuel Fill is designed using flame resistant
compounds to meet the fire resistance test required in SAE
J1527 for USCG Type A marine fuel hoses. In addition, the
wire helix allows the hose to be used around obstacles and
in tight bends without kinking.
Note: Our G681A also meets European specifications for small
craft fire resistant fuel hose under reference ISO 7840/1994
Marine Fuel A2.

G611A Type A1 Fuel Line is specially formulated and constructed
to meet the strict requirements set out by SAE
J1527 Type A1 Marine hose and is required for fuel feed
lines where the fuel is constantly sitting in the hose in an
enclosed engine compartment.

In larger sizes and tight bending applications sometimes our standard G381 hard wall hose is not suitable. For these applications we provide a corrugated hose that requires less force to bend and offers a tighter bend radius. We stock G381C in the larger and more popular sizes. G381C meets SAE J2006 TypeR2 specifications for marine exhaust hose.
G388 is for straight connections in engine cooling and wet exhaust applications and has the same features as G381 but without the helix wire. It is particularly useful where installation space is limited and a wire reinforced hose cannot be compressed enough to fit between the end connections. G388 meets SAE J2006 Type R1 specifications for marine exhaust hose.

G941BW is manufactured using high molecular weight PVC that stays flexible at sub zero temperatures. Most PVC hoses become stiff when used in winter conditions, but Blue Water can be used year-round for water suction lines in construction, rental, mining, and agricultural applications. An advantage of G941BW over many EPDM rubber hoses is that it is resistant to degradation in oily conditions. While this hose is not designed for oil applications, PVC offers good oil resistance at moderate temperatures.
